Exploring Whistler Village, British Columbia
Nestled within the majestic Coast Mountains of British Columbia, Whistler Village is a destination that beckons adventure enthusiasts year-round. While it's famous for its world-class skiing and snowboarding in the winter, our recent summer visit to Whistler revealed a different, equally captivating side to this picturesque village. Join me as I recount the highlights of our unforgettable trip to Whistler Village.
Getting There
Our journey to Whistler Village began with a scenic drive along the Sea-to-Sky Highway from Vancouver. The picturesque route itself was a treat, offering jaw-dropping views of towering forests, rugged cliffs, and serene coastal waters. We stopped off at the Train Wreck along the way and I would definitely recommend that. Read this blog post for more details.
The Whistler Village Experience
Whistler Village is a charming pedestrian-only village, carefully designed to offer a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. The cobblestone streets were lined with boutique shops, cozy cafes, and inviting restaurants.
We had a late lunch at Earls. We were lucky enough to get a table outside on the patio overlooking the Village. They have a good plant-based menu so we knew we’d find something delicious to eat there!
Outdoor Adventure
While Whistler is famous for its winter sports, the summer offers an array of thrilling outdoor activities. On the day we were in Whistler there was a Crankworx bike festival happening so it was very busy. Crankworx started in Whistler in 2004 and it is now an international festival that brings together the best mountain bike athletes to compete.
Conclusion
Whistler Village, British Columbia, isn't just a winter destination; it's a year-round paradise for those who appreciate the beauty of the great outdoors. If you're seeking a summer getaway that combines natural beauty with outdoor excitement, Whistler should be at the top of your list.
