Move Your Body

It is important, for your physical and mental health, to move your body everyday! The first thing you need to do is figure out what type of activities you enjoy. I enjoy walking, yoga, spinning, and pickleball. After you’ve decided what activities you’d like to do, you need to set aside time each day to do them! The best way to be consistent is to schedule time each day. Scheduling the activity into your calendar, just like an appointment can help. Otherwise, it may become an after thought and be pushed to the bottom of your never ending to do list and likely never happen. If you are just getting started and need some inspiration, check out some YouTube videos. Try a few different ones until you find something you enjoy. Below I’ve posted some of my favourite YouTubers.

Yoga

  • Yoga With Adriene

I’ve been following Adriene and doing her yoga videos for years. They are great for first timers as well as seasoned yogis. I love Adriene’s personality and her instructions for each pose are easy to follow. If you love animals, you will also fall in love with her sweet dog Benji, who makes an appearance in most episodes!

  • Yoga with Kassandra

Kassandra is another yogi that I follow. She has over 500 videos for all different levels. You can also choose videos based on the amount of time you have, between 5 and 90 minutes.

  • Yoga With Bird

On weekday mornings, I often do Bird’s yoga classes because she has many 10 minute videos that are perfect stretches for when you just get out of bed and are still half asleep!

  • Boho Beautiful Yoga

What I love most about Juliana & Mark’s yoga videos is the scenery. Most of the videos are filmed in beautiful beach locations. Juliana’s calming voice and the tranquil beaches bring instant mindfulness to my day!

Cardio

  • Kaleigh Cohen Cycling

A few months ago we got an Echelon spin bike and I was searching YouTube for some spinning videos to follow. I found this channel and immediately fell in love with Kaeleigh’s classes. She has so much enthusiasm and energy! I really like that she reminds viewers to check their form throughout the class so that you don’t get injured. She has a cute pug that relaxes on the chair behind her and often ‘makes’ funny comments.

  • The Body Coach/Joe Wicks

At the beginning of the Covid lockdown we were trying to find some structure for our days at home and I was looking online for some exercise videos that we could do as a family. A lot of the first ones I found were a bit too young (and cheesy) for my kids but then I discovered Joe Wicks and his ‘P.E. with Joe classes’. We started doing his daily workouts everyday after breakfast and it gave us routine, daily movement as well as something to do as a family.
