Luxury meets sustainability: Our unforgettable stay at Palmaia, The House of AIA

Palmaia, The House of AIA, is a luxurious eco-resort located in the heart of the Riviera Maya in Mexico. My family and I recently stayed at this beautiful resort and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Warm Welcome

Palmai lobby

The moment we arrived at Palmaia, we were greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drink. The resort is nestled amidst lush tropical gardens and pristine beaches, which make for a picturesque backdrop to any vacation. The architecture of the resort is also noteworthy, with a blend of contemporary and traditional Mexican styles that give it a unique charm.

Our swim out suite was nothing short of perfection. The space was tastefully decorated and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved that the mini bar was stocked full of kombucha, still and sparkling water and coconut water.

Nomadic Guide and Daily Activities

After checking into our room, we met our Nomadic Guide which is basically a personal butler or concierge that we could contact at any time with questions. He made our daily dinner reservations, helped my husband and son book a jet skiing session as well taking care of any transportation needs. Each afternoon he texted the schedule of events for the next day.

The Architects of Life Daily Schedule

Palmaia offers a wide range of activities for guests to indulge in. We tried 3 different yoga classes. Each location was so beautiful and peaceful. Our favourite instructor was Susana. We also took part in a cacao ceremony, sound healing, a mantra class, tai chi as well as watercolour and drawing lessons. The hardest part was trying to decide which of the many daily activities to take part in!

Delicious Plant-Based Food

The main reason we came to this resort was because of the food. As a plant-based family, we often find it difficult to eat out when travelling. We spent hours trying to find a resort that would have food options for us. When my husband found this plant-based resort, we knew we had to book! The resort has several restaurants that offer a variety of plant-based cuisines. If you are a meat eater there are options for you as well but all the menus are plant-based first. It is so amazing to sit down at a restaurant and be able to order anything! There are no buffets, everything is prepared fresh. Our personal favourite was Ume, a Japanese Fusion restaurant.

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat while on the beach or by the pool, thereโ€™s a food truck right on the beach! They have tacos, grilled corn and dessert!

Sustainability

One of the things that sets Palmaia apart from other resorts is its commitment to sustainability. The resort uses renewable energy sources and has implemented several eco-friendly initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint. When we checked into our room there were reusable cups and filtered water in glass bottles for us to drink. The water was refilled every morning and evening. This eliminates the huge amounts of plastic water bottle waste that you see at most resorts.

The Atlantis Spa

Atlantis Spa

The Atlantis spa at Palmaia, is a luxurious sanctuary that offers a range of treatments to soothe the body and mind. From massages to facials and body wraps, the spa menu is extensive and uses only the highest quality products and ingredients. The spa facilities look amazing in the photos, unfortunately we were unable to experience any of the treatments because of the cost. We looked at getting massages but for a family of 4, it would have been around $1000!! We were disappointed because we had been looking forward to swimming in the cenotes, however it is only accessible to guests of the spa.

5-star Experience

Overall, our trip to Palmaia, The House of AIA, was an unforgettable experience. From the beautiful scenery and white sand beach to the top-notch amenities, everything about the resort exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, plant-based and eco-friendly getaway.
